An independent and versatile job

Hi, I am Johanna Leskinen and I work as a Research Consultant in MPS Executive Search. This is my third year in MPS. I have Masters Degree from Helsinki University (Social psychology and Organisational Psychology). Behind the title Research consultant there is a versatile job as the right hand of the Executive Search Consultants.

The work as a research consultant is very independent and one has great responsibility toward the customer and candidates. I make sure that each assignment has the adequate number of candidates that fit the target profile. Our service team naturally aims at finding the best possible solution for the client.

Each assignment begins with defining an ideal profile of the candidate and drawing up an assignment brief together with the Executive Search Consultant. After that the search for the adequate candidates begins through using various sources. Finding candidates that would suit the positions is however not enough. The vacant position needs to be “sold” to the potential candidates in order to awake their interest and it is also important to find out their readiness to move to a new position.

Know-how of different business fields

I usually also attend meetings with the client representatives which makes it easier to see the big picture of all projects and also gives me the chance to deepen my knowledge about the special features and challenges in different business fields.

In addition to client assignments, my responsibilities include phone interviews and meetings with people who are actively looking for a new job.

The Research Consultant needs to be able to juggle with many things simultaneously. In order to succeed as a Research Consultant you need to have a keen interest in economics, be a problem solver and have good communication skills and flexibility. To sum it up, it is a demanding job, but fortunately you have a competent team to support you and MPS provides the conditions to succeed.

A youthful atmosphere and a strong brand have certainly made it easy for me to enjoy working at MPS. We get things done at MPS, and the work is very dynamic and energetic.
