1972. A young American, Thomas GrosJean (27 May 1943 – 8 Aug 2006) comes to Finland to celebrate his brother's wedding. He decides to stay in Finland and build his future there.

1974. Thomas and Marcus Herold meet. They hit it off immediately.

1975. The young partners found MPS (Management Personnel Services), and introduce a completely new consulting service to the Finnish market – Personnel Assessment. Right from the start the idea is to expand the business abroad.

1977. From Personnel Assessments towards comprehensive recruitment partnerships; the first four-column recruitment advertisement in Helsingin Sanomat.

1980. MPS expands in Finland and takes its first steps abroad; new offices open in Tampere and Copenhagen.

1982. The outlook for growth remains bright; MPS launches in Sweden by opening its office in Stockholm. At the same time in Finland Turku gets its own MPS office.

Executive Search (Headhunting) is added to complement the range of recruitment services.

1985. Pushing further north to unchartered territory; the Oulu office opens.

1986. MPS opens in Asia; services launched in Japan at the new Tokyo office.

1987. Focus on Central Europe; MPS finds a reliable partner in Germany, von Rundstedt & Partner GmbH, with an extensive network of offices all over Germany.
MPS becomes the first company in Finland to offer Outplacement services.

1988. More than half of the Nordic countries conquered; the Oslo office opens.

1989. Before the turn of the decade, MPS expands also to Eastern Europe; MPS’ services are provided through a partner in Warsaw.

1990. MPS finds a partner in London, GKR Executive Search.

1993. The service range is expanded to include leadership development, management development and organisational development.

1994. Conquest of the Baltics commences; services launched in the Baltics.

1995. MPS finds a suitable partner in Italy and launches services in Rome.

1997. Focus on the Baltics; the Tallinn office opens.

1998. Towards east and west; MPS’ services are provided through partners in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Paris, France.

2000. MPS gains more ground in the Baltics and Eastern Europe; MPS Latvija/Komin Ltd and MPS Polska are founded.

2002. Operations expand in Asia; offices open in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Bangkok, Thailand. Coaching becomes a natural part of MPS’ methodology.

2005. MPS goes to China; an office is opened in Shanghai.

2006. MPS Italia Executive Search founded. With the acquisition of BoardCompetence Oy, the service range is expanded to include Board Assessments, Board Development and Board Executive Search.

2007. Operations in Russia are boosted by founding a separate company in Moscow, OOO MPS Executive Search Russia.

2008. MPS is one of the leading companies in its field both in Finland and worldwide. The services include a broad range of tools to satisfy Management, Leadership and Personnel needs. Personnel Assessments still form a big part of the business, and the in-depth understanding of work behaviour is the basis of our strong expertise.
